WIP #2: March 8 – 15, 2021

This week, I spent a little less time than I would have liked actually pushing designs forward. It just so happened that this was one of my “off” weeks, so I wasn’t feeling the creativity. Despite that, though, I did spend 14 hours outside of school and work on design.

It’s a little hard to show progress with a motion design piece with just some screenshots, but this week I did finally move my storyboard into After Effects in order to get it moving, finally. I have approximately 25 seconds of my 55 second clip animating in a really rough state at this point. You can see that I’ve made the decision to continue with the mosaic pattern throughout the piece, which wasn’t in my storyboards last week.

I made a lot of progress with Calesthesia! This week, I spent even more time with research and benchmarking. Specifically, I was looking at research papers, art by other synesthetes, and potentials for solutions as far as the medium of the calendar goes. I also spent some more time working on the visual language of the brand overall, and created some round calendar interpretations.

My website home page got cleaned up just a little bit more! I still have some plans for updating and maintaining the site, but I’m happy with how everything is looking for the time being!

Happy Studio is a new project I’m adding to my roster! This is a personal project, so I’ll be working on it as time allows me. Sometimes we just need to hear some kind words, and sometimes we need to hang them on our walls. Happy Studio prints will be available to brighten up your own office or studio soon! The initial release will consist of five poster designs that can be mixed, matched, or collected individually.

Next week, I’ll finally have an animation to show you, as well as a finalized presentation for Calesthesia. I’m not planning on making any major website changes, but I will be continuing to brand and create print designs for Happy Studio.
