WIP #1: March 1 – 8, 2021
Week in Process is a weekly log designed to share my process in (almost) real-time and log my progress with the projects I'm currently juggling. I wanted to start this project to keep myself accountable in pushing my work as far as I possibly can. Throughout these posts, you'll find my sketches, thumbnail designs, screenshots of works-in-progress, and behind the scenes photos. I'm implementing an infographic-style system to track my progress through my work. I hope you enjoy seeing my workflow and reading my thoughts throughout the week!
This week, I spent most of my time working on class projects. I began two new projects this week, which is very exciting—you’ll get to see my entire process from start to finish!
For my Motion Design class, I will be creating a lyric video for the song Simmer by Hayley Williams. The song itself is about bottling up anger and working through it. I started out with some thumbnails just to get a bird’s eye view of what I’m looking to create, and below those thumbnails you can see a better view of some of the assets I’ve created for this project so far.
In my Visual Communications Design III class, we are beginning a concept design project. For my project, I will be exploring sequence-space synesthesia. As a synesthete, I find that a traditional, grid-style calendar doesn’t really work for me, because I perceive time in 3D. Over the years, I have adapted, but I would love to see more options for calendar setups and give fellow synesthetes options that match more closely with their own perceptions. So far, I have begun sketching and conducting research, as well as developing a color palette and a tentative logo.
You are here! I’ve been working hard to develop my website and portfolio these past few weeks. By the time this post is live, it will probably still look a little different from the screenshots above, since I’m still working out how I would like to display my work. Major changes include a new homepage and portfolio combination, and of course, the introduction of Week in Process!
That’s all, folks! I hope you enjoyed this little behind the scenes look; I’ll be back with updates next week!
